Apixaban 2.5mg (Apixa Q) is a prescription-only anticoagulant, commonly known as a blood thinner. It is used primarily to prevent and treat serious blood clots that could lead to life-threatening conditions like stroke or pulmonary embolism
Primary Uses
Stroke Prevention: Reducing the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm).
Post-Surgical Prevention: Preventing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) in adults who have recently undergone elective hip or knee replacement surgery.
Treatment and Recurrence Prevention: Treating existing DVT or PE and reducing the risk of them occurring again after initial treatment.
